BWH Student Wins Catenian Public Speaking Comp
Congratulations to Huda Daghem in Y11 at Blessed William Howard Catholic High School on winning the regional Catenian Public Speaking competition and qualifying for a place in the National Final which will be held in Manchester on 9 September.
The competition was open to all Catholic Schools and this regional heat was held at Princethorpe College in Rugby. BWH Sixth Form Student, Sian Bell, also took part and came in second place.
“Both girls are to be congratulated on their high levels of eloquence and maturity. I was very proud of them.” commented Mrs H Duffield, Assistant Headteacher.
Huda was awarded a trophy, as well as £100 gift voucher for herself and £100 for the school, which she decided to donate to a local women’s charity.
“I really enjoyed taking part in the day, meeting other people and the whole competition experience.” commented Huda.
Huda had to speak on the subject “Choices show who we really are rather than our abilities” for four minutes, presenting her arguments and opinions, justifying herself and winning her audience and the judges over with her persuasive language.
We wish her the very best of luck for the final.
